Quist, Cornelie

With an academic background in rural sociology and a broad experience as researcher, consultant and social activist in small scale fisheries, natural resource management and integrated rural development , I do not consider myself a “gender expert”. Actually, my involvement with gender concerns and a feminist perspective in development has been an inspiring and long journey which I made together with women and some men at the grassroots, in NGOs and in the academic world - worldwide. A journey which is still continuing .
Besides being a practitioner of integrating gender , I have been involved in workshops, conferences, (participatory) research studies, publications and advocacy campaigns related to women’s role in sustainable development in fisheries dependent and coastal areas. For more than 20 years I have been co-coordinating the international Women in Fisheries Programme of the ICSF, which is unique for its worldwide network and shared Gender Agenda 2010 (http://icsf.net/icsf2006/jspFiles/wif/wifWorkshop/)
