Debriefing over de 54e zitting van de CSW/Beijing+15

De debriefing van de 54e zitting van de CSW vond plaats op 15 April 2010 op het Ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap te Den Haag. Deze bijeenkomst bestond uit een bespreking en evaluatie van de gebeurtenissen rondom de CSW die afgelopen Maart In New York plaatsvond . Tijdens de debriefing besprak de regeringsdelegatie de geboekte resultaten, het niveau van samenwerking tussen Ngo's en de aangenomen resoluties op het gebied van vrouwenrechten door de Verenigde Naties. Searching for shared ideals

At the 54th Commission on the Status of Women, more than 3000 NGO representatives gathered together from all around the world, for this historical moment, the 15 years review of the Beijing Platform for Action. Most participants were women. The diversity of this group was overwhelming but did not result in a common goal or a shared strive. That is unfortunate, because a broad movement is needed to get the platform for action implemented. Lees Meer

Interview met Robert Dijksterhuis Door Vanessa Hoen, WO=MEN 2010 Op 23 februari jongstleden vertrok Robert Dijksterhuis, hoofd Emancipatiebeleid van het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, naar de CSW in New York met een onmisbare accessoire in zijn koffer. Een met aanbevelingen geborduurde stropdas, om tijdens de onderhandelingen als geheugensteun te gebruiken. Deze stropdas is hem aangeboden door Ama van Dantzig namens WO=MEN. Lees Meer

Cordaid and partners were present at NGO Global Women’s Forum

2010 marks the 15th anniversary of the Beijing World Conference on Women. In recognition of this anniversary, the NGO Committee on the Status of Women, NY organized an NGO Global Women’s Forum. NGO’s gathered together to advocate for a full implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action. Around 1000 people were present at the two days forum. We discussed issues like more women leadership, more education for girls and women, greater involvement of women in peace negotiations. Therefore full gender equality is needed. Lees Meer

They have gathered in New York to chart the progress of a landmark declaration on women's empowerment and gender equality, which was issued at a UN conference in Beijing 15 years ago.
