Community at the Core: Localising the Women, Peace and Security Agenda to Ensure Meaningful and Diverse Women’s Participation

Date: 27-10-2023
Time: 2-3.30 PM EST
Location: Japan Centre (333 E 47th St, New York, NY 10017)

Localisation is essential in securing meaningful and intersectional participation of women in the WPS Agenda and peacebuilding, humanitarian and development. Community-led responses enable context-specific interventions that can identify context-specific drivers and ensure responses are sustainable and locally led. However, in practice, localisation can often be tokenistic.

This event will bring together diverse WPSa ctors to discuss best practices and lessons learned in localising WPS through NAPS and beyond, with speakers from Colombia, Uganda, Myanmar, and UN Women reflecting on their experiences and recommendations.
