CSW66: Gendered Environmental Impact of Conflict - Perspectives of Frontline Women Activists

On 15 March 2022, PAX and WILPF will convene a virtual panel event entitled "Gendered Environmental Impact of Conflict: Perspectives of Front-line Women Activists” on the sidelines of the 66th session of the Commission of the Status of Women (CSW). This event will feature a panel of practitioners and women activists who will share their insights on the nexus of gender, conflict, and environment. The discussion will examine the impacts of conflict-linked climate risks and environmental degradation through a gender lens. Researchers and grassroots activists from Iraq, Syria, South Sudan, and Colombia will share their experiences and analysis of the various gendered impacts of militarism and conflict on the environment, as well as the importance of gender equality in influencing environmental peacebuilding in conflict-affected areas.
