Public session: ‘The Future is Feminist’ - 15.00 – 16.30
 
Last December we launched a Vice Versa Special about Feminist Foreign Policy. In this edition, several  activists and experts spoke about how to make a feminist foreign policy a success.

During the public portion of our ALV, we will engage in conversation with some of these activists and experts.
 
Programme (this part of the programme is in English) 
 
Introduction: ‘Feminist foreign policy in the public debate: chances for new voices and the role of the media’
Marlies Pilon - journalist, editor and campaigner; 
& Sarah Haaij - journalist and moderator
Panel discussion: 
  • Anila Noor - Founder/Managing Director New Women Connectors
  • Inna Michaeli - Co-Executive Director of AWID
  • Luis Lineo - Regional Secretary MenEngage Europe (MEE)
  • Saskia Ivens - Consultant specializing in gender equality, feminist foreign policy and intersectionality  
Together with these four experts we’ll discuss the latest trends and developments regarding feminist foreign policy. These include lessons learned from Sweden scrapping its feminist foreign policy. We’ll also go into the importance of sustainable resourcing of feminist movements and movement building, and explore why we need to engage men and boys in feminist policies. And what does the future Dutch feminist foreign policy mean for our government’s asylum and migration policies?  
 
The plenary programme will be moderated by Quirine Lengkeek,  – Global Advocacy & Communication Officer at Hivos.
