He has made the film Mediha, which will be presented at the Movies That Matter Festival. With this documentary, he gives a platform to Yazidi women who search for justice and opens the conversation about trauma.
This year, the Festival shows eight documentaries between 22-30 March in the theme ‘activist’, featuring activists and human rights defenders from all over the world. One of these activists is Mediha Alhamad from Iraq, a young Yazidi woman who survived kidnapping and enslavement by ISIS and goes on a brave quest. For justice, for internal healing, and for her missing parents and brother. Director Hasan Oswald has given her a great audience by creating the movie Mediha. The heartbreaking and inspiring documentary is shown on Saturday 23 March 20:15, Sunday 24 March 18:00 and Tuesday 26 March 20:15 at the Movies That Matter Festival in the Filmhuis and Theater aan het Spui.
Hasan and Mediha have built a strong bond; she is ‘like a sister’ to him. Therefore, Hasan will represent Mediha at the Movies That Matter Festival to shed light on this topic. He will also visit the WO=MEN office to exchange with members of WO=MEN and NAP 1325 signatories.
