Beyond Borders International is excited to invite you to the next session of our Voices for Change series on Wednesday, August 19, focused on "AI and Technology for Peace and Recovery.”
This session will explore the opportunities, and challenges, at the intersection of technology, peacebuilding, human rights, and inclusive development. Rather than looking at technology simply as a tool, we will ask a broader question:
How can we ensure that emerging technologies are designed and used in ways that respond to the realities and needs of communities affected by conflict?
We are pleased to feature two inspiring leaders working at this intersection:
Kat Fotovat, Co-Founder & President, and Medya Ayob, Co-Founder & Director of Growth and Partnerships at Digibankar.
Together, Kat and Medya will discuss how AI and digital technologies can support peacebuilding, conflict prevention, recovery, and community resilience, as well as how blockchain and emerging financial technologies can expand financial inclusion and strengthen humanitarian response.
They will also explore the opportunities and risks these technologies present for human rights, accountability, and inclusive governance, and what it takes to ensure that technology is locally informed, accessible, responsible, and responsive to communities affected by conflict.
Why this conversation matters
Technology is increasingly shaping how communities communicate, access services, respond to crises, and participate in decisions that affect their lives. As these technologies develop, it is essential that the voices and experiences of conflict-affected communities remain at the center of the conversation.
We would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word and sharing this invitation with your networks. By bringing more perspectives into the conversation, we can help ensure that the future of technology and peacebuilding is shaped by the people and communities it is intended to serve.
