Human-Rights-Based Budgeting. Organised by Art. 1 Midden Nederland. From 09:30 to 11:00 in room Collegezaal. Language: Dutch.
Gender-responsive budgeting is essential for the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action, as it helps to highlight the impact of government budgets on women, men and non-binary persons. This method is not yet applied in the Netherlands, which contributes to systemic discrimination and human rights violations, as evidenced by the increase in reports to Art. 1. Although the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been using this method in development cooperation since the 1990s, domestic budgets remain largely gender-blind. This programme component will conclude with a participatory Brown Paper Session on new perspectives and a call to action.

The report highlights the global context on girls' and women's rights, the deep-rooted causes of child marriage and its profound impact on girls’ education, health, rights, and futures.

Together with two young grassroots activists from Ethiopia and Ghana, we will unpack the data and share regional insights in a plenary moderated part. In an interactive discussion, we will further exploretwo scenarios:
  1. What if child marriage remains stagnant or increases in the next decade?
  2. What will it take to see a significant decline in child marriages?
This interactive format centers girls’ voices and asks: what do girls and young women need from community, national, and global level to protect and empower them? Whether you're a practitioner, advocate, policymaker, or student, your voice matters in shaping the solutions.

Besides physical access, lack of access can be caused by institutional, communicational or attitudinal aspects. The audience will be welcomed to intervene and solve these challenges. This is relevant for anyone working in the field of SRHR and health care to better understand the complexity of disability inclusion and that just putting up a ramp does not automatically mean that disability inclusion is achieved. No dancing, No revolution - Reclaiming joy in our resistance. Organised by AidsFonds. From 14:00-15:30 in room Collegezaal. Language: English.
"Stories have to be told or they die, and when they die, we can't remember who we are or why we're here.”  - Sue Kidd Monk

Those of us who work in this sector often forget that we are very much part of the change that we wish to see. This session focuses on change from within. Each of us who work in the business of changing the world – are here because of a story. A story that motivates us, that enrages us and that drives us to fight for rights for ourselves and those around us.

This session will offer attendees a space to go within and share your personal stories that radicalised you and made you into political beings. Stories that brought you to the revolution. In sharing our stories, we remember our purpose and drink from the fountain of collective hope and reisistance.
As no revolution is complete without dancing, expect this space to also give you an opportunity to shake off your stress and celebrate our collective joy. Come remember, renew and dance with us.

This session will be facilitated by Srushti Mahamuni, Senior Gender Advisor, SAGE - RCF/Aidsfonds and is supported by Jill van Duin and Kenya Van de Loo.

Please note that this session will be conducted in English. We unfortunately cannot accommodate translation needs due to the nature of this session. Limited spots are available, so sign up as soon as possible.
