Comparing the structures of exclusion and violence for LGBTIQ+ in Latin America and Eastern Europe

Human Rights Cafe

Date: 04-09-2025
Time: 7pm-9pm
Location: Kargadoor Utrecht, the big hall

Join PBI Nederland (Peace Brigades International Nederland) for an evening of critical dialogue and solidarity, where they bring together human rights defenders from Latin America and Eastern Europe to explore the shared and divergent realities of their struggles. Together, they will reflect on the systemic roots of LGBTQI+ exclusion, the impacts of rising anti-gender movements, and the strategies being used to build resistance and care within communities. The programme will include a panel discussion with the human rights defenders, followed by an opportunity for open dialogue with the audience.

This public event is organised by Peace Brigades International (PBI) Nederland, as part of their commitment to amplify the voices of human rights defenders and create safer spaces for exchange. They also highlight their ongoing work through Shelter City Utrecht, which offers temporary relocation and support to defenders at risk.

Please note: participation is only possible with prior registration. Register here.
