[CSW70] Workshop Drawn Masculinities
Comics for Political Education and Critical Reflection on Gender Norms

This CSW70 session is facilitated by Dag Schölper, Managing Director
of Bundesforum Männer, an umbrella organization for gender
equality-oriented men’s policy in Germany and member of MenEngage
Alliance and Sari Kamiyama, a researcher in men and masculinities
studies at Waseda University in Japan and an individual member of
MenEngage Alliance.
Drawn Masculinities is an
interactive workshop that will explore how comics can be used as a
political and artistic method to reflect on masculinity and gender
norms. Dag Schölper and Sari Kamiyama were part of the team that created
Are (All) Boys Really Like That, a comic strip series made through a
collaborative process by members of the Global Youth Reference Group of
MenEngage Alliance.
Dutch CSW70 Youth Representative, Sarah Meijer from CHOICE for Youth and
Sexuality, is one of the contributors of this workshop.
