Generation Equality Forum Paris event: Reversing the rollback: advancing feminist action

Date: 24-06-2021
Time: 12:30 - 14:30 CEST
Location: Online

Reversing the rollback: advancing feminist action – regional Feminist Solidarity Action in Central Asia, the Western Balkans &
Eastern Europe

Building on last year’s regional Beijing+25 actions, we will learn about feminist action and priorities from across the Central Asia, Western Balkans and Eastern European region. We will have a creative space to collectively discuss commitments for the Action Coalitions’ Actions. We will have inspiring speakers, from feminist activists to parliamentarians to singers! Sultana, a feminist artist from Turkey, will kick off the event. She will perform for us and share #herstory of feminist activism through music. We will also discuss concrete actions for including grassroots feminists & youth with the process.

Feminist Movement-Building is the overarching theme of the conversations. The speakers will bring their feminist stories: of young activists, of artists and decision-makers. Important topics are: how do we meaningfully include youth? How do we build bridges between regions and across expertises to bring about transformative change for gender equality? How do we ensure inclusive feminist movement-building, what do we need to keep governments accountable to their gender equality commitments? What are the success keys of virtual mobilization?

We will ask questions via a poll tool, to engage the participants in sharing priorities for commitments for the Action Coalition/Compact themes and ask the panelists to prioritise three key recommendations for the GEF Paris and coming years of GEF Action.
