WPS Events to mark WPS +25 and 2025 Open Debate

Dear reader,

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Women, Peace and Security agenda. While the UN Security Council Open Debate on WPS will take place on 6 October, visa restrictions and shrinking civic space mean that many of the women’s rights organisations who shaped this agenda cannot be present in New York. As civil society, we therefore reclaim this moment by centering our own voices, convenings and priorities. Across Amman, Nairobi, Brussels, The Hague, London and beyond, feminist movements, grassroots organisations and allies are coming together throughout September, October and November to reflect, strategise and advance the WPS agenda in its 25th anniversary year.

On this page you will find a living agenda of civil society events and initiatives. Organisations are invited to share their events, so we can upload them here — contributions can be sent to v.dekort@wo-men.nl. In this way, we collectively ensure that the WPS 25+ remains visible, inclusive and firmly rooted in the movements that continue to defend and carry it forward. The hashtag for all events is #ReclaimWPS25+ . Please use this when sharing announcements or outcomes/ recommendations/ pictures from your WPS events on social media.
