In the 25 years since the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) unanimously adopted resolution 1325 – what’s known as the Women, Peace and Security agenda – evidence of women’s vital role in achieving and maintaining peace around the world continues to grow. 

But structural and financial support for women peacebuilders – and life-saving aid for women and girls trapped in conflict – remains woefully inadequate. Instead, conflicts and military spending are on the rise, as is the number of women being killed, violated and displaced by war.  The facts and figures are alarming – and they’re a call to action.
