CSW69: From Beijing to today and beyond: Funding feminist movements to win

 

Over the past 30 years, feminist movements worldwide have catalyzed transformative change — from the legalization of abortion and the creation of laws to support survivors of violence, to spearheading efforts to defend democracies and protect the planet. During this time, a dynamic feminist funding ecosystem has taken root and flourished to support and sustain the wins of the past 30 years. Despite these advancements, shifting dynamics threaten the progress made to date.

 

This invite-only event at CSW69 will bring together leaders from feminist movements and funding communities to have a candid and thought-provoking conversation about what they have learned about funding feminist movements, where they are now, and how they must move forward — both within their institutions and collectively — to meet this critical moment. They will ask speakers to reflect on the difficult and complex questions facing us, including how we navigate the anti-gender actors’ increasing influence in the funding landscape, how to respond as longtime funder allies exit the field, and what these leaders’ visions and hopes for the future of funding feminist movements.
