Migrant women leading change - join us in The Hague!

Datum: 04-06-2025
Tijd: 1:30 - 5:00 pm
Locatie: Oxfam Novib, Mauritskade 9, 2514 HD The Hague, The Netherlands

On Wednesday, June 4th, New Women Connectors invites you to an empowering afternoon of resistance, solidarity, and participation. This event centers the voices, experiences, and leadership of migrant and refugee women — because we believe meaningful inclusion must start with centering those who have been historically excluded from civic and political participation.

At a time when xenophobia, restrictive immigration policies, and the defunding of civil society limit civic space, particularly for women with a forced displacement background, we are coming together to push back — through power, stories, and collective action.

What to expect:
👥 A roundtable discussion with inspiring migrant women leaders, including: Oksana Savchuk – co-founder of the VATAHA Foundation, project coordinator at Ukrainian House Rotterdam
Devika Partiman – Director, Stem op een Vrouw

💥 Two dynamic workshops to choose from:
• 𝘙𝘦𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 – led by Eleni Diker, researcher at Oxfam Novib
• 𝘜𝘯𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘹𝘶𝘴: 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳, 𝘊𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘪𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯– facilitated by Anila Noor, Managing Director of New Women Connectors, and Eva Lia Colombo from WO=MEN, Dutch Gender Platform
... and more to be announced soon!

The event is moderated by Meghan Rens, Erasmus University Rotterdam.

These sessions will dive into critical and interconnected topics that shape the lives of all with a displacement or migration background: past, present and future. The event also aims to open up a space for reflection, resistance, and reimagining participation.
