The COVID-19 pandemic has had significant impacts on women and made clear that response efforts do not fully encompass the gender perspective as well as reflecting the lack of the participation of women in the decision-making process. This, despite the fact that 70% of the people actually on the frontline are actually women. Violence against women in confinement has increased and obstacles have risen in women accessing their sexual and reproductive health and rights.

We need an accurate picture of how COVID-19 affects women and gender disaggregated data is essential in achieving this. In line with Renew Europe’s commitment to the fundamental value of gender equality, this webinar aims to promote gender mainstreaming in the Crisis Recovery Plan and to highlight the gender data gap and women’s consequent under-representation in the design policies – pervasive across all aspects of our societies. It will bring together Members of Parliament, civil society and data experts, with the purpose of influencing future policy responses to ensure gender responsive measures and adequate gender data collection.
